I’m getting so behind on the blogging these days. This session was a month ago, and mom and dad already have their pictures … but here I am just now blogging about it. Oh well some day I will catch up, right?

I did family portraits with these guys a year ago as well and oddly the weather situation was very similar. It was a dreary rainy day but we decided to do it anyway because it wasn’t raining at the moment. So off we went … and part way through the session it started to rain. So we ducked into a barn and did some portraits in there. Turns out the light was actually gorgeous inside! When it cleared up (only about 5 minutes later) we headed back out and did some more. Last year the same thing happened but hiding under a tree was adequate while we waited for it to pass. Maybe one of these years we’ll actually have nice weather … 🙂

Enjoy!!

And she’s one!! This was my sixth photo shoot with this family. Two little ones, baby planners, back to back (just the way to do it!). And number two is one year old. We actually ended up doing a split session with a cake smash on one day, and an outdoor portion another day. Day two was a little rough going but in the end we got a lot of really fantastic photos. And she is SO cute, is she not?

Now I’m just waiting for them to have a third ..

Enjoy.

I actually had a family photography session with these guys one year ago as well. The sole girl child of the family went to pre-school with my youngest daughter. They became “friends” (as much as 2yo’s can be friends) and she was invited to my daughter’s birthday party which was in my home. I’d never met them before. But they came over and she fell in love with the photos on my walls. Turns out she has 5 children and had never had them professionally photographed before. So she decided to hire me. That was last year.

Since that session we’ve become friends! Our daughters aren’t in the same class anymore (but she is invited to her party again this year). It’s a different experience when you’re photographing your friend’s kids.

They are still the largest family I work with (though feel free to try to break that record) … and some of the oldest kids. But they put up with my posing for about 5 minutes before I let them run around. Those are the best pictures anyway, right?

Enjoy.

Look at this cute family! And they’re about to be one more. We’ve got the newborn session scheduled for next month!

We decided to meet in Highland Park for this maternity and family portraits session. I’ve done several sessions there before but never one in the morning. I had no idea how gorgeous it would be! It’s a nice spot in the evening but beautiful in the morning. I’ll be using it more often! Points for it being close to my home.

I love that mom and dad wanted to capture their family before it changed forever with the addition of another little one. They may be “incomplete” but this is certainly something to remember. And once the new one joins the family it’s hard to remember what it was like before they were there. Something to consider for all of you mommies pregnant with your second, third, fourth, etc! 🙂

Enjoy.

  • Deanna Ford - 🙂 beautiful work, thanks again!ReplyCancel

Yes indeed in Boston!! My best friend just had a baby, 2 weeks early, and she lives in Boston. So I hopped onto a plane and flew up there as soon as I could. I brought along the bare essentials for a newborn portraits session: 2 backdrops and my camera. It was a pretty rough set-up. But we made it work. And then of course we did some lifestyle as well.

It was so nice getting to spend the weekend with them, meet baby girl, and see her in her new role as mommy. I know she’s going to be a great one!
